Fishing and Ice Fishing
Bass
Lake of the Woods Lodge is a Fishing Paradise.
Both Smallmouth and Largemouth call LOTW home.
For a true Bass fan, guests fish our portage (Kawakamaik) lake.
One guest referred it to “like going to Disney World the first time!”.
Crappie
Spring and Fall Sabaskong Bay may have the finest Crappie fishing in Canada.
Come see for your self.
Muskie
Few lakes can compare to LOTW when it comes to Muskie fishing.
Located throughout the waterway anglers have a better than average chance hooking up to a true monster.
Nestor Falls Muskie Cup is held late September.
Northern Pike
Northern are plentiful and inhabit all sections of the lake.
Early season fishing can expect many catches but the true giants show up in the fall and through the ice fishing season.
Perch
If you like shore lunch or want to fill your freezer at home, LOTW has abundant jumbo Perch.
Easy to catch and great to eat.
Lake Trout
Trout anglers can get into some great action on LOTW or some of the other surrounding Lakes.
Big and tough Lakers can make memories of a life time.
A guided trip is recommended.
Walleye
The favorite fish in the North.
LOTW has size and numbers of Walleye.
Early and late season fishermen don’t need to leave our docks here at the lodge.
Fishing IS that good.
Ice Fishing
Winter in NW Ontario just means more lakes to fish.
Safe ice is generally found everywhere in our area January 1, and the season continues usually until the first week of April.
Options are available at this time of year depending on the type of experience you are looking for.
We keep select cabins available for accommodations in the winter, although there is no running water.
You can also take advantage of our guide service and stay in Town with the luxury of Hot water.
We offer portable fish house and heated insulated ice shacks
